Overview
Credit: J VinnickThe City of Vancouver’s Southeast False Creek development is the site of the Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Village for the 2010 Winter Games. This development is a leading model of sustainability in North America - turning a former industrial brownfield site into a mixed use, mixed-income neighbourhood that incorporates forward-thinking infrastructure, strategic energy use reduction, high-performance green buildings and easy transit access.
The City of Vancouver handed over the Olympic Village to VANOC for its final preparations before the 2010 Winter Games on November 4, 2009 - officially marking the 100 day countdown to the Games. During the Games, the Village will be home to over 2,800 athletes and officials. For more details on the Olympic Village during the 2010 Winter Games, visit vancouver2010.com

After the Games, the Village will become the newest addition to Vancouver’s network of interesting neighbourhoods. It will have approximately 1,100 residential units, including 730 market condos, 120 market rental apartments and 250 proposed affordable rental apartments. The heart of the community will be a plaza ringed by restaurants, a grocery store, community centre and daycare, a restored heritage building, coffee shops and other services. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy themselves in these spaces along with the 11 acres of redeveloped park and waterfront.
