What to Expect
One of the most important things the City of Vancouver can do to make the 2010 Host City experience great for everyone is to help make it easier and more convenient to get around the region in 2010. To do that, we all need to work together to reduce the amount of vehicle traffic on Vancouver streets in 2010.
What to expect
Residents, businesses and visitors can expect rush hour conditions and parking restrictions in Downtown Vancouver 24 hours a day during Games time. We encourage everyone coming Downtown during Games time to walk, cycle, take public transit or carpool rather than drive alone. This will not only ease traffic pressures at Games time, but will be faster and easier for everyone to get around the city.

TravelSmart 2010 Challenge
The TravelSmart 2010 Challenge encourages incremental reductions in vehicle traffic as road closures and transit service increases are put into place before the Winter Games begin. The Challenge is an opportunity for everyone to test their Games-time travel plan every Friday between now and the Opening Ceremony on February 12, 2010.
City staff are conducting vehicle data monitoring on behalf of the OPTT each Friday, and reporting on the vehicle traffic reduction results the following week. Over the coming weeks, everyone needs to continue to use sustainable transportation as part of their 2010 travel plans to increase the number of vehicles taken off the road, and make the transportation plan a success.
